Girls Inc. provides life-changing programs and experiences to girls ages 6-18. Through educational, interactive programs, we help girls reach their full potential. Programs are nationally researched, outcomes-based, and delivered on an outreach basis. Program topics focus on leadership, peer pressure, science exploration, and self-awareness for girls ages 6 to 18.
The purpose of Girls Inc. is to enable girls to achieve their full potential. To do this, girls must conquer social, legal, and cultural barriers that are different than those of boys. By providing programming created specifically for girls, their needs, and their unique challenges, we are able to put them on the same playing field as boys as they grow through life and become independent and responsible adults. Girls Inc. programs aim to improve girls’ lives through purposeful, relevant activities.
Girls Inc. of Greater Houston delivers programs on an outreach basis; this means programs are delivered in a variety of settings in the community. Through strong partnerships with schools, community centers, and faith-based organizations, we provide programs to girls at those locations. Girls Inc. operates solely from a business office and, unfortunately, is not equipped with a facility to host programs.
Girls Inc. programs are conducted in schools, community centers, faith-based organizations, libraries, apartment facilities, therapeutic homes, and medical clinics located within the Greater Houston community.
Girls Inc. program locations vary month to month. The majority of programming is held in the Greater Houston area within Harris County and other outlying areas. Girls Inc. is able to provide programming in the following counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Waller, Washington, Wharton, and Walker.
Girls Inc. participants are recruited by the program host site (schools, community centers, faith-based organizations, libraries, apartment facilities, therapeutic homes, and medical clinics). Girls who would like to join an existing Girls Inc. program at a site will need approval from the program host site in order to participate in the program

Girls Inc. seeks “Program Instructors” to teach the Strong, Smart, and Bold session to teenage girls in the Greater Houston area. Instructors introduce the Girls Inc. mission to girls, guide them through a self-discovery exercise, and lead group discussions in a fun and exciting way. The Strong, Smart, and Bold session is offered as an introductory single-session. Volunteers will work with teenage girls in a small group, typically in classroom settings at various school campuses Monday through Friday.

Girls Inc. volunteer opportunities are seasonal and based on the needs of programs and agency events. Potential volunteers must undergo a screening process in order to participate.
