Girls have the right to appreciate and accept their bodies.

Girls thrive in communities that invest in their total physical, mental, and emotional wellness. With information, resources, and skills, they effectively promote their own healthy development.

To ensure that girls have the support that they need to take charge of their own health, Girls Inc. of Greater Houston’s intentional programming, such as our day camps, focuses on the four pillars that fortify abilities to develop and sustain strong minds and strong bodies. They are: nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and body image.

Elements of this year’s Camp Break Smart, our spring break day camp for girls ages 7-12, were based on these four pillars. Focusing on programs that encouraged a healthy lifestyle, girls learned about health and nutrition by making their own healthy snacks. They participated in physical activities and stress management through the practice of yoga. Girls practiced positive body image through a mirror exercise by decorating the mirror frame positive qualities about themselves.

As a partner of Girls Inc. of Greater Houston, you help encourage girls to make healthy choices, have high self-esteem, and to be confident in themselves and their bodies.
