At Girls Inc. of Greater Houston, we believe in the ripple effect of empowerment—how one girl’s journey can inspire and uplift those around her. The Jackson family is a shining example of this. Through dedication, courage, and the power of sisterhood, Mackenzie and Ryann Jackson are building a legacy of strength, intelligence, and boldness.
Mackenzie: A Bold Leader in the Making
Mackenzie Jackson’s GIGH adventure began in 2021 when she joined our Be BOLD Institute summer program. Since then, she’s become a cornerstone of GIGH participating in Project Accelerate and our Teen Advocacy Council, where her leadership and determination have flourished.
Fast forward to the summer of 2024, and Mackenzie’s journey reached an exciting milestone: completing a Project Accelerate summer internship with GIGH. During her internship, Mackenzie discovered a love for teamwork and honed her skills in project management and independent work. But her achievements didn’t stop there—Mackenzie was also awarded a $10,000 Girls Inc. National Scholarship and took on the prestigious role of Girls Inc. Brand Ambassador in the same year!
Mackenzie attributes much of her growth to the mentors, professionals, and peers she’s met through GIGH.
“I’ve met so many impressive and inspirational professionals in different fields,” she shares. “Having a safe space to be myself and thrive has helped me come out of my shell and feel comfortable meeting new people.”
Inspiring the Next Generation: Ryann’s Turn
Mackenzie’s journey has had a profound impact—not just on her life, but also on her younger sister, Ryann. Seeing Mackenzie’s transformation, confidence, and joy motivated Ryann to join GIGH following in her big sister’s footsteps by starting with our summer camps. At just 12 years old, Ryann is already on her way to discovering her own potential and passions.
For the Jackson sisters, GIGH isn’t just a program—it’s a family tradition. Mackenzie’s encouragement and example have shown Ryann that the sky’s the limit when you have the right tools, support, and confidence to pursue your dreams.
