Girls Inc. provides girls the opportunity to lead and see themselves as change agents in their communities. When surveyed, 92% of Girls Inc. girls feel they can use what they’ve learned to solve “real-life” problems in their communities.

This past summer at the Be Bold Institute, our summer day camp for girls ages 13-18, we took over 35 girls on a three day/two night Central Texas college tour and visited seven college campuses. Charity was a recent high school graduate on the tour. Charity knew she wanted to do big things in life but was still trying to figure out what that was. She had enrolled at a Houston Community College for the fall and gearing up for her freshman year.

During the college tour, Charity and the other girls visited the campus of Huston-Tillotson University. There she immediately felt this was the place for her, learning Huston-Tillotson University was still accepting applications for the fall. Once Charity was back home she and her family decided to take a risk and enroll.

Today Charity is attending her freshman year at Huston-Tillotson University. She is a great example of taking risk, striving freely, and taking pride in success.
